Mama

Reagan made my week by saying her first word! If you read the title of this post you know what it was..."Mama"! She started saying it on Tuesday, August 18th. Of course Adam was a little disappointed that "Dada" wasn't said first but I was more than excited!! She even cried out for me when she woke up crying Thursday morning at
3:30.

We all survived our first week of daycare and me going back to work. It was a busy week at school with the students starting on Thursday. I quickly found out that I am going to have an interesting year! I had a first this year, I had to send a kindergartner to the principals office on the first day of school!! When I left that afternoon I just wanted to cry! Reagan survived as well but when I picked her up on Friday afternoon I quickly noticed that she caught her first cold...darn daycare germs!

We had a nice relaxing weekend here at home. We decided not to do too much so we could get Reagan feeling better come tomorrow.

We Survived!

As the title of this post states, we (all three of us) survived! I didn't sleep well last night, lots of anxiety, fears of over sleeping and Reagan was up several times. I had planned on just leaving this morning without saying goodbye to Reagan thinking it would be easier on me but when the moment came I just had to give her a hug and kiss goodbye. Of course this caused the tears to flow but I think it helped me through the day. I only called Julie (our daycare provider) twice and talked to Adam two times as well. Adam even had to admit that it wasn't easy for him to drop Reagan off this morning, he found himself waiting until the last minute to leave the house and had to fight back a few tears when it came time to leave her. Of course I left work as soon as the hand struck 3:30 so I could go and pick her up. When I got there she looked at me almost a little confused and then gave me a great big smile! To make my night even better, I could almost swear that she was saying "Mama" tonight!

The love we have for Reagan continues to overflow.

Going back to work

Well the day has finally come. My six month maternity leave has finally ended. I will be going back to work tomorrow. I obviously have known that the day was coming so I have tried to prep myself but I have to admit that I am a wreck tonight. I was very selfish and took all the Reagan time today that I could get and when I rocked her to sleep tonight the tears started to flow. As some of you know, I had to go back to work at the end of the school year for two weeks to finish things up but my mom watched Reagan for a week and Adam took the other week off. So tomorrow will be her first day at daycare. We really like our daycare provider but obviously I hate the feeling that someone else will be with her all day and not me!

On a different note, Adam took Friday off so we could spend my last day of summer off as a family. We got up early and went out for breakfast before Reagan took her morning nap. We really didn't do much other than run some errands and got Reagan's six month pictures taken. We are very excited to get the proofs back this week! She smiled like a champ and did a great job!

On Saturday we went to Marion to celebrate Josh's sixth birthday. It is so hard to believe that he will be turning six on Wednesday. He had a Pokemon birthday at the campground.

Prayers Needed

Adam's younger brother Ben is currently serving in Afganistan. He called last week with news of a very dangerous upcoming mission. His unit was mentioned in the article below. Please keep him and the rest of his unit in your thoughts and prayers. I will post an update when we have recieved word that they have safely returned to their base.

Reagan has learned something new!

Just this week Reagan has started to sit up all on her own. She still isn't the most steady and I don't dare go far! While playing this morning I captured her showing off! She looks so proud of herself!

Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain!

It started raining here late Friday night and each time the skies open up it drops at least an inch of rain. This is a good thing as everything was starting to turn brown around here. On Sunday we were on our way out to Jesup to work in my classroom and both looked at each other when we heard the tornado sirens start to go off. If you know me well, you know that I am very scared of storms and get extremely anxious. I wanted to turn around and get home but Adam reminded me that if we did that we would be driving right into the storm so we kept on going and took shelter in my classroom at school. After a storm tonight we headed out and took some pictures.

This is the "river" that formed between our house and the neighbors.



I thought it would be fun to relive my younger years and put my feet in the puddle. Reagan wasn't so sure about it and started to cry when I put her feet in it.



This shows you how deep the water was...it was all the way up to my ankles.



We even got a glimpse of a rainbow. We can't wait for Reagan to see her first one and remember it along with telling her the tale that at the end of the rainbow there is a pot of gold.

Busy, Busy, Busy

On Friday I took Reagan over to meet her daycare provider, Julie. I wanted Reagan to meet her before she starts there in just a couple of weeks. Reagan went to her all smiles and was very entertained by the other kids that were there. She will be one of three baby girls along with a two year old and two three year olds. Julie will be a busy lady!

We headed to Marion to spend the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Bricker. We hadn't seen them since my dad had surgery a couple of weeks ago so it was a much needed trip. On Saturday we all went out for lunch to celebrate Dustin's 30th birthday.

Reagan continues to change daily. Her latest trick is blowing through her lips like she is trying to spit. She loves to imitate us and go back and forth. She also found her voice last week. The first time she screeched it startled both Adam and I but she thought it was funny. By the next day she was really going. Here is some video I took of her last week.




I was able to capture Reagan's two pearly whites while she was screaming.
