Carving Pumpkins

Adam and I have carved pumpkins together ever since we started dating seven years ago. We've had several busy weekends leading up to Halloween and weren't sure that we would get it done this year. We couldn't pass up the opportunity to get some cute pictures of Reagan so we squeezed it in yesterday afternoon after watching the Iowa game. Adam started the pumpkin and then put it down on the floor for Reagan to see, touch and smell. After one quick touch of the pulp she quickly turned around and wrapped her arms around my neck because she was scared. A few minutes later she was all smiles and was more than happy to help out! One failed attempt to put seeds and pulp in her mouth and we had a neat pumpkin!

Go Panthers!

This weekend was Homecoming weekend for UNI. We hadn't planned on being around this weekend but ended up being on call for our neighbor who was due to have a baby any day. The hospitals here in Cedar Falls/Waterloo aren't allowing anyone under the age of 15 in the labor and delivery area or ICU's so they needed someone to watch their other son until grandparents arrived. So we took the opportunity to get all bundled up and support our Panthers! We didn't have tickets to the game and knew we wouldn't be able to tailgate long with Reagan but it was still fun! We met up with some of Adam's co-workers and old college roommates. I ended up taking Reagan home for a nap after about an hour and Adam stuck around until game time. It's too bad that the Panther's couldn't pull it off! Don't quote me, but I think I heard that this is the first time they have lost in the dome since 2006. We ran into the people who have season tickets next to us for men's basketball and he reminded us that the first men's game is in two weeks! We are excited to take Reagan to her first UNI basketball game!

Here are a few pictures that we took of Reagan showing her Panther Pride!

Reagan and I tailgating. It was pretty cold so we pulled out her winter coat, hat, gloves and Robeez booties. She was like that little boy on The Christmas Story. She couldn't move her arms or her legs! It was pretty darn cute...even though she didn't think so!

New Hat

I finally found Reagan a winter coat, snowpants hat and gloves this weekend that didn't cost an arm and a leg. I love that Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids finally opened The Children's Place! Here is a picture of Reagan in her new hat!

It didn't take her long to fiugre out how to pull it off! It could be a long winter!!

Especially For You Walk

This weekend we went to Cedar Rapids to walk in the Especially For You Walk. This is the 19Th year Cedar Rapids has had this walk raising money and awareness for Breast Cancer. My mom has walked it for many years and I have joined her the last few years. This year was extra special because a long time family friend Donna Helling, a survivor joined us. There were over 11,000 walkers this cold October morning!

All Fours

Adam and I have been anxiously awaiting the day that Reagan will start crawling. As I say this I know many experienced parents are saying to themselves..."enjoy the time you can just set her down and have her stay there!" We were super excited this week when she got up on all fours all on her own! She still doesn't know what to do and after a minute or so she drops back down to her belly.

Pumpkin Patch

On Saturday we went to the pumpkin patch with my parents. I had high hopes of all these cute photos we were going to get but I should have known better when Reagan decided that she didn't want to take her morning nap. Of course she fell asleep for about ten minutes in the car but woke up the second the car stopped. She wasn't sure of the pumpkins and wouldn't even crack a smile!

First Date

Well we finally did it! Adam and I had our first date on Friday night since Reagan was born! I don't want you to think we went all out and got crazy though. I had arranged for my parents to come up and watch Reagan so we could go out for dinner. Adam has been asking for awhile but I just haven't been ready. So we started with baby steps. Originally we said that we would leave and let them do the bedtime routine but I was dragging my heels a little so we let Grandma put her to bed while we hung out with my dad just in case Grandma needed anything. I am sure we will look back this in a couple of months or even years and laugh! Anyway, we went to The Texas Roadhouse and actually ended up running into some friends unexpectedly. We were able to share some laughs and have some adult conversations before checking in for the night. Thanks mom and dad for letting us be "adults" again!!
