All Smiles
Avery is all smiles these days. The minute you say something to her she opens that mouth and gives you a great big smile that just melts your heart.

When folding laundry last week Reagan found her swimsuit and towel and of course had to put them on! It was great entertainment for about an hour and it made for some cute pictures that I am sure she is going to love down the road!

UNI Homecoming 2010
It was UNIs Homecoming this past weekend. We aren't big football fans but still like to support our Panther teams! Friday the girls and I went to a Homecoming party that one of the moms of the MOMS group that I am in hosted. The kids got tattoos, necklaces and got to meet TC the panther mascot! Reagan loved him! I figured she would be scared of him but she couldn't get enough, she even played ball with him for a little bit!
On Saturday we went with some friends to the Panther Family Festival on the UNI campus. The marching band played, the cheerleaders did some cheers, the basketball team was there and TC! When Reagan saw him she just giggled and couldn't take her eyes off of him. I can only imagine what was going through her head!

They also had a couple bouncy houses for the kids. Reagan had a blast going down the big slide, we had to distract her with treats to be done! Funny story about the big slide. Adam took her the first time and she had a blast so I thought I would take her the second time...I didn't want to miss out on the fun! Adam warned me that it was hard to get up to the top, but I said to myself if a five year old can do it I should be able to. I didn't take into consideration that the five year old isn't carrying a 20 month old up the slide. I was almost to the top when I lost my gripping and we started to slide down to the bottom, taking out a couple of kids on our way! Reagan thought it was fun and said wee!! The gal at the top came down to get Reagan and I pulled my embarrassed self up to the top. When we got to the bottom, our friend Jason said "no fair, she got to go down twice!" I about died! I guess Adam can say I told you so...

Ames Visit
We went to Ames last weekend to see Grandma and Grandpa North and the rest of the family. Adam's brother Ben was home on leave before he returns to Afghanistan in November. It was great to have the whole family together! Reagan really likes playing with Kyle and Evan and I think they like it too:) We brought Reagan's bouncy house and enjoyed another beautiful fall day!!

Taking a break from bouncing and checking out each other's Silly Bands that Grandma and Anna bought them. They were a big hit!
Avery enjoyed being outside as well...so much she took a nap.
Since you don't travel light with two little ones we decided to get a hotel. This was our first time staying in a hotel since Reagan was born so it was a new experience for all of us. We were smart and got a suit so we had a little extra room. We also made sure to get a hotel with a pool. The pool was a big hit! We weren't sure if she would like it since she hated swimming lessons so much but she screamed when it was time to get out!
I would be lying if I said our first night in a hotel as a family was a restful one. Adam helped get the girls ready for bed and then headed back to his parents house. Avery was sleeping and Reagan cried when I put her down. This woke Avery up and we repeated the cycle two more times before Avery slept and Reagan played in bed. We were finally asleep when Adam came home and Reagan fell off the bed and started crying. She woke up in the morning at 6:30 and didn't want to sleep anymore. When the lights were on we saw that she had a fat lip from falling out of bed. Needless to say we were all very tired Sunday morning.
It was a nice weekend trip. Our thoughts and prayers will be with Ben and his unit when they fly out next month and during his seven month tour.

Especially For You Walk
Last Sunday was the 20th Anniversary of the Especially For You Breast Cancer Awareness walk in Cedar Rapids. I have walked with my mom for the last several years this year Avery joined us and Beth ran the 5K. It was a beautiful morning with over 15,000 walkers and runners.
We ran into Matt, Tammi, Kyle and Evan at the finish line.
Avery slept the entire way but woke up at the end for a picture.

Pumpkin Farms
Last weekend we headed to the Pumpkin Farm with Dustin, Beth, Josh, Lauren and Ella. They were nice enough to let us tag along! It was a beautiful fall day...almost too hot! We had already picked out pumpkins at a farm in Waterloo but we enjoyed seeing the animals and most of all speding time with the family!! You can tell we live in Iowa, when we picked out pumpkins in Waterloo it was a chilly 50 degree day at the end of September. A couple weeks later in October it was nearly 90degrees!

Check-Ups
Both Reagan and Avery had check-ups last week. Avery had her two month and Reagan had her 18 month (a month and a half late). They were both due for shots so I knew it wouldn't be a fun morning for any of us. Adam joined us in the outing for moral support. Reagan hates going to the doctor and usually clams up the minute we walk into the room, this hasn't changed one bit! They started with Avery so she could become more comfortable.
Here were their measurement stats for the check-up:
Avery:
Weight-13 lbs...95%
Height-22 1/4 inches...50%
Head- 15 3/4 inches 75%
Reagan:
Weight- 23.2 lbs...25%
Height- 33 inches...75%
Head- 18 inches...25 and below%
Within the last two weeks Avery has begun smiling and cooing at us. She loves to be held and suck on her paci. She is a great sleeper, she sleeps between 6 and 8 hours a night!! If she isn't sleeping she is eating:) She is still fighting some acid reflux but the medicine seems to be helping.
Reagan continues to learn new things daily. She is starting to show some interest in the potty, even having several successful tries!! She is talking up a storm these days, some words we understand and others still come out as gibberish. Some of the words she is saying these days is daddy, mommy (instead of dada and mama), hi, bye-bye, outside, inside, Bo (her friend across the street), Ellie, Annie (grandma and grandpa's dog) bump, bubble, knee, home, ball, up, down, poop, etc. She makes lots of animal noises such as the cow, dog, rooster, monkey, bear, rabbit (hop, hop), owl, sheep, pig, and horse to name a few. She likes to read books and count objects in them. We point out body parts and is having fun trying to say them. She just about has right arm and leg and left arm and leg figured out. She continues to love books and Mickey.
Reagan and Avery continue to bring us so much joy and fulfillment. We can't imagine life without them and certainly can't remember what life was like before them!
